11. Asian markets open lower on Euro debt woes

PETALING JAYA: Concerns over the ongoing Euro debt crisis seemed to sap investor confidence as Asian markets were lower in Friday's midday trade.

On the local front, the FBM KLCI was down 4.67 points to 1,509 at 12.30pm.

As for regional markets, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 slipped 1.41% to 8,368.98

and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was down 1.40% to 18,550.37.

Shanghai's A index was down 0.32% 2,141.51 while Taiwan's Taiex Index fell 0.11% to 7,123.30.

Seoul's Kospi Index dipped 1.67% to 1,832.55, while Singapore's Straits Times Index slipped 0.19% to 2,707.89.

Nymex crude oil slipped 41 cents to US$101.40 per barrel. Spot gold rose 75 cents to US$1,623.48 per ounce. The ringgit was quoted at 3.157 to the US dollar.
